OBEDIENCE TO GOD
Several months ago, my husband Don came to me with a scary proposition. That he would sell his business, go on disability and we would seek out a full time ministry.
Divulging this was not an unhappy proposition, but it was a total surprise. He did tell me for the last 3 years, I should be saving money and spending less. I did not listen then, but I was beginning to understand, Don who is the spiritual leader of our house had a plan and it began long before I knew.
So I have been disobedient to my husband and to God. So now this whole thing has really evolved into a trip into a new land for me, much like Abraham. I am moving to DC area to hopefully finish up my civil service career and be able to retire and go into full time ministry with my husband. This obedience is hard and I am struggling with the whole prospect of being alone for sometime without my husband. Don will be left here to clean up the mess and try and put order to our life so we can be God's instruments.
I do believe my trip to DC is only a piece of the puzzle, but God will use me and mold me during those days, but I pray that I will be obedient to him. So here begins my journey - 5 days left before I leave for Washington. I am using this time to finish up my Frazzled bible Study and clean up and pack my belongs that I'll drag along with me in my car.
So it begins... but not without several months of preparation and prayer. Being obedient to God with your heart simply means loving God more than anything else. If you put your relationships, your work, your money or your hobbies ahead of God then you are not being obedient to him.
If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. John 12: 26

Core of the Problem
When we do not listen God, he has to fix the situation, but he uses all things to further his Kingdom. I am trying to read God's word and listen to his voice. Today Isaiah 55 speaks to me.
Invitation to the Thirsty55 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”
Read and listen to God's voice. Amen. August 22, 2012

I started out early today at 6:30 am to arrive at Steven's place around 9:45 am. Steven and I talked for several hours while he finished up some school work. I read his book "The Glass Castle." I had meant to read that book last year, I met the author while she spoke to my Administrative Professional Conference group.
So Steven and I went around 11:30 to awake up Chelsea and we went to Waverly, IL to have lunch.
It was a short visit, but I needed to get on the road.
So we went back to their church, it is a great facility. I gave my good bye hugs and I was on the road by 1:00 pm.
While driving toward Danville, I heard a terrible noise. I stopped at the next rest stop. It was easy enough to see what the problem was, the plastic undercoating under my driver side front tire was dragging on the ground. I tried to put it back up over another piece and a nice man who was having a picnic with his wife came over and asked me if I needed help. He thought it would hold, so I thanked him and drove off again heading of Indiana... well not quite.
So I get to a town called Monticello, IL - very nice place actually. I called Don and he said, I better get it fixed... so I used my phone and found a body shop, but when I arrived I found it was a Chrysler dealership, so I went to the service department and the guy was very nice. He had the tech pull the car back into the bay and take the piece off. The good news was that he didn't charge me.
Psalm 34:1 "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth"
Never once today did I get upset or worried. The noise scared me, but I knew God was with me on this journey.
Praise God from whom all blessings come. Along the road I met two nice men who were trying to get and did! When i arrived in Indiana, I drove until a little town invited me Crawfordsville, IN. A very nice place to hang my hat tonight and type and do my devotions.
Tomorrow is another day. God bless and pray for smooth sailing tomorrow.

Today's Trip - August 28, 2012
Today - I left outside of Indianapolis and arrived in Hagerstown, MD. Long day, but now I am only 75 miles away from Arlington and can arrive fresh and ready to look at apartments.
Today wasn't bad. I had no major adventures other then when I disagreed with the GPS. I also have to say having GPS is great to get you to a place, but it doesn't allow you to see the big picture. I went from Indiana, Ohio West Virginia, Pennsylvania, back into West Virginia and then Maryland today. I just wasn't sure what state I was in or how far the next state was. Not like looking at a map with states on it.
Going through the Mountains and travelling through a beautiful section of the US - I felt nearer to the Heart of God. and when I look at Week 6 of my typing guess what the Title is: "NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD." God is really awesome. Acts 2:28 says "You have revealed the paths of life to me,You will fill me with gladness in your presence." That is how I felt all day - gladness in his presence.
I am fed and ready for bed, but it is only 6:20 PM. Well I'll type one lesson and then head for bed. I was actually in 5 states today!!! West Virginia Twice!!!!
God bless you all.
